A lead-acid battery crushing and separating plant transforms watse batteries into high-value resources through a safe, automated, and environmentally compliant process. It recovers lead, plastic, and sulfuric acid—closing the loop for a critical energy storage material.
Lead-acid Battery Crushing and Separating Core Process
Step 1: Pre-Treatment
Eliminate residual voltage to avoid short circuit, spark or explosion during crushing.
Step 2: Primary Crushing
Lead-acid batteries are feed into a shredder to reduce batteries to 5–6 cm pieces.

Step 3: Secondary Crushing
The batteries undergo secondary crushing to further break down the materials.
Step 4: Multi-stage Separation and Purification
Use equipment such as vibrating screens and magnetic separators to sort the crushed materials and separate different components such as lead, plastic and lead grid. At the same time, purify the separated materials to remove impurities and pollutants.

Step 5: Electrolyte Collection and Treatment
Our fully enclosed pipeline system safely collects dilute sulfuric acid during the crushing process, eliminating risks of volatilization or leakage. The collected acid is then treated in a neutralization tank, where the pH is adjusted to 6–9, meeting international discharge standards. The treated water can either be safely discharged or reused as process water in the plant.

Step 6: Dust and Waste Gas Treatment
To control emissions, the system uses high-efficiency bag filters, capturing 99.5% of the particulate dust generated during crushing to prevent air pollution.Harmful gases such as hydrogen sulfide are then removed by an activated carbon adsorption tower, ensuring full compliance with EU ECODESIGN and US EPA emission regulations.
Step 7: Product Collection and Packaging
Automated conveyors and silos separately collect lead paste, lead grids, and plastic particles.
As the core front-end of lead-acid battery recycling, our crushing and separating plant is directly compatible with lead smelting furnace, refining systems, and plastic recycling lines for higher recovery rates and smoother production.
