Vehicle lithium-ion battery recycling plant

Vehicle lithium-ion battery recycling plant operations are now central to how manufacturers and waste handlers convert end-of-life EV packs.

Into marketable raw materials — graphite powder, lithium-metal oxides (cathode material concentrates) and copper.

The Guanma Machinery industrial line starts with safe discharge and mechanical depackaging, then proceeds to shredding and black-mass liberation, followed by metallurgical refining to produce saleable streams.

Why companies search for this

Client and investors searching Vehicle lithium-ion battery recycling plant want answers to: what yields and product grades can be achieved.

Which process route (mechanical + pyro, hydrometallurgy, or direct recycling) matches client feedstock; capital and footprint estimates; and how to sell recovered graphite, copper and cathode materials profitably.

Process overview (what we supply)

Guanma Machinery supplies a turnkey line sized for automotive EOL batteries that integrates the following stages and equipment

Safe discharge & dismantling: automated pack dischargers and semi-automated depackaging stations to remove BMS, plastics and fasteners.

Mechanical liberation: the metals (casing, copper, aluminium) from the active “black mass” (fine powders containing graphite + cathode active material).

Black mass concentration & drying: wet/dry classification, filtration and low-temperature drying to produce a pumpable black mass for downstream leaching.

Hydrometallurgical refining: leaching tanks, solid-liquid separation, solvent-extraction modules and electrowinning units recover Li, Co, Ni, Mn and Cu into marketable fractions.

Outputs & commercial pathway

A well-designed plant converts shredded automotive batteries into three principal saleable streams

1. Graphite powder: purified, sized and packaged for anode or industrial use (value depends on impurity levels and particle size).

2. Cathode-material concentrates (Li-Al-Co/Ni/Mn oxides): recovered via hydrometallurgy and precipitation/oxide production; suitable for chemicals markets or further conversion to precursor salts.

3. Copper and aluminium fractions: high-value metal returns from current collectors and busbars after mechanical separation.
